ACNE VULGARIS – RISK FACTORS
By Antin. There are some conditions that increasing the risk of acne. Those are genetics factors, before menstrual periods in women, and during the teen and young adult years.
Genetic factor is the tendency to develop acne runs in families. You have risk to develop severe acne if your parents had severe acne. The risk of developing acne is highest during the teen and young adult years due to increasing of testosterone. Many women have acne flare-ups in the days just before their menstrual periods.
Skin with acne can be irritated or made worse by:
· Using skin and hair care products that contain irritating substances
· Washing or touching face / acne too often especially if using hot water or scrubbing the skin too hard
· Wearing straps or other tight-fitting items that rub against the skin like helmets, bra straps, headbands, and turtleneck sweaters
· Physical or Emotional stress
· Have type of skin that sweating a lot or hair hanging in the face
· Taking medication that causing flare up the acne
· Working with oil and harsh chemical
