By Antin. Eczema or atopic dermatitis is a type of chronic (persistent or recurrent) skin inflammation. Skin changes in people with eczema are caused by dry, irritable skin, itching and scratching. Prevention of Eczema including these things:
Avoid irritants and allergens
The most important thing to prevent eczema is avoiding anything that tends to aggravate your eczema. Common environmental irritants include shampoos, soaps, bubble baths, solvents, wool and nylon. Some people allergic to house dust mites, pollens, animal dander (small scales from the skin and hair of animals) or certain foods so these things can aggravate their eczema.
Avoid Overheating Condition Minimized overheating prevents the flare up of eczema. Choose warm water than hot water when taking a bath. Turning down the heater and avoiding an electric blanket in winter is also prevention of eczema. During summer, Air-conditioning and fans are helpful to avoid overheating.
Moisturizers or emollients Moisturizing your skin are one of the easiest and most important measures in preventing itching and scratching. Moisturizers also can reduce eczema flare-ups. Avoid skin moisturizers that contain perfumes and preservatives which can irritate the skin. Apply it at least twice a day all over the skin. Ointments tend to be more effective than creams or lotions for very dry skin. It’s best to apply the moisturizer or emollient to skin after a shower or bath.
Soap substitutes

Wet dressing is applying emollients or steroid cream to the skin then covering with bandages soaked in warm water and finally dry bandages. It may help to reduce eczema symptoms in some people skin. However, more research is needed to show whether wet dressings are effective in relieving eczema symptoms in skin.
